Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats

Overview

This course aims to provide the training for candidates to launch and take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat in emergency situations, in accordance with section A-VI/2 of the STCW code.

Intake Limitations

Maximum 24 students per course.
At sea, practical training will be held in the SMTI base in Galle under supervision of qualified practical instructors.

Academic Faculty

Our training will be delivered by properly qualified lecturers and instructors with qualifications as specified in MSN 03/2022 issued by the Director General of Merchant Shipping, Merchant Shipping Secretariat, Sri Lanka.

Entry Requirements

Seafarers applying for this course must be certified by a doctor to be in a good health condition. They must also have completed the four basic courses covering the familiarization and basic safety training and instruction in accordance with regulation VI/1 of STCW.

Every seafarer for a certificate of proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats shall:

  • Not be less than 18 years at the time of commencement of the training programme.
  • Have a valid medical certificate issued in accordance with provisions of STCW Reg.I/9 and Section A-I/9.
  • Approved sea going service of not less than 12 months or have attended an approved pre-sea training course and have approved sea-going service of not less than 06 months.
