Preparatory Course for Able Seafarer Deck

Overview

The able seafarer deck (COP-Deck) course is designed to train seafarers who sailed onboard in deck department, to upgrade their level of knowledge and skills. This training programme will enable the seafarers who sailed onboard, to qualify with recognized qualification as per STCW 1978 convention as amended as an Able Seafarer Deck. The aim of this course is to meet the mandatory minimum requirements for the knowledge understanding and proficiency specified in STCW Code Section A-II/5, Table A-II/5 for the following functions.

  • Function 1- Navigation at the support level
  • Function 2- Cargo handling and stowage at the support level,
  • Function 3 – Controlling the operation of the ship and care of persons on board at the support level.
  • Function 4 -Maintenance and repair at the support level.

Intake Limitations

Maximum 24 students per course.

Academic Faculty

Our training will be delivered by properly qualified lecturers and instructors with qualifications as specified in MSN 03/2022 issued by the Director General of Merchant Shipping, Merchant Shipping Secretariat, Sri Lanka.

Entry Requirements

“Notice of Eligibility” Issued by the ministry of Ports & Highways.
