SMTI recently hosted a distinguished delegation from the maritime industry, at both SMTI Galle & Colombo Branches, including Mr. Andreas Niehage, Head of Crew Development at Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG, along with representatives from Doehle Marine Lanka Pvt Ltd. The visit included a facility tour and productive discussions on cadet placements, maritime training development, and strengthening international collaboration.
Key discussions focused on enhancing training standards, expanding global placement opportunities, and reinforcing long-term cooperation between maritime education and the shipping industry.
The visiting team included Mr. Andreas Niehage, Head of Crew Development at Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG, along with Mr. Kalinga De Silva, Chairman of Doehle Marine Lanka Pvt Ltd; Mr. Tilan Sanjeewa, Deputy General Manager; and Ms. Nadeeka Gunawardena, Manager of Crew Training & Compliance. They shared insights on industry expectations and discussed future cadet placement pathways.
