Radar Observation and Plotting

The course aims to meet the mandatory minimum standards of competence for seafarers outlined in Regulation Reg. II/1, II/2 & II/3, Sec. A-II/1, A-II/2 & A-II/3, Table A-II/1, A-II/2 & A-II/3 in STCW 1978 as amended, with regard to the sub use of radar to maintain the safety of navigation.

Maximum 24 students per course.

Academic Faculty

Our training will be delivered by properly qualified lecturers and instructors who have the qualifications as specified in MSN 03/2022 issued by the Director General of Merchant Shipping, Merchant Shipping Secretariat, Sri Lanka.

Eligibility

Shall have at least 12 months of sea time and introductory knowledge and experience on bridge navigation watch keeping.
Others who use radar, such as those employed in harbour and customs patrol launches, would also benefit from the course; in that case, the entry requirements could be modified to fit the specifics. Nonetheless, the trainees enrolled in each course ought to typically come from comparable backgrounds. The principal will evaluate their credentials and experience, and enrolment will be at the principal’s discretion.
