The aspiration of this course is to provide knowledge to those who may be titled to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Ship Security Officer (SSO), as defined in section A-VI/5 of the STCW Code, as amended, and in particular the duties and responsibilities with respect to the security of a ship, for implementing and maintaining a Ship Security Plan and for liaising with the Company Security Officer (CSO) and with Port Facility Security Officers (PFSOs) and section A/2.1.6 (and section A/12) of the ISPS Code. The framework for these revisions is found in Section A-VI/5 of the STCW Code.
Maximum 24 students per course.
Our training will be delivered by properly qualified lecturers and instructors with qualifications as specified in MSN 03/2022 issued by the Director General of Merchant Shipping, Merchant Shipping Secretariat, Sri Lanka.
It is assumed that those attending this course, will be currently serving seafarers and that they are like to be titled as Ship Security Officer. However no specific entry requirements are envisaged. Anyhow, to retrieve a Certificate of Proficiency as Ship Security Officer, the trainee shall have approved seagoing service of not less than12 months or appropriate seagoing service and knowledge of ship operations.
