Global Maritime Distress and Safety System General Operator's (GOC) Certificate (GMDSS)

Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) – General Operator’s Certificate (GOC) course covers the mandatory minimum requirement for certification of GMDSS operator as per Section A-IV/2 of the STCW code. This course has been designed as per IMO Model Course 1.25 and approved by the Sri Lankan maritime administration and Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka.

Every person in charge of performing radio communication duties onboard ship is require to hold GMDSS GOC and should be able to demonstrate competency,

Understanding SOLAS, Radio regulations and GMDSS carriage requirements.
To effectively use GMDSS equipment to transmit and receive all kinds of communication (Distress, Urgency, Safety & Routine)
Maintain the GMDSS Radio log book and perform GMDSS test and checks.

Intake Limitations

Maximum 8 students per course.

Academic Faculty

Our training will be delivered by properly qualified lecturers and instructors who have the qualifications as specified in MSN 03/2022 issued by the Director General of Merchant Shipping, Merchant Shipping Secretariat, Sri Lanka.

Eligibility

the applicant shall;

hold a Certificate of Competency prescribed in STCW code or
currently undergoing (or have already completed) an approved training program leading to award a Certificate of Competency, or
following (or have already completed) an Academic Program leading to award of a Certificate of Competency or
be members of professions, which requires GMDSS (GOC) or GMDSS (ROC) certification.
Shall have a valid medical fitness in accordance with schedule II of the Merchant Shipping Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers, as amended.
