Pre Sea Training Course for Deck Rating

The training programme has been designed to include all essential aspects of shipboard operations, in order to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to comply with the international Safety and environmental conventions.

The period of training would be of five months (05) duration and would be in line with the Sri Lanka maritime administration approved pre sea training and shipping companies specific training for deck ratings which would broadly cover the following,

• Effective Communication
• Seamanship
• Introduction to watch keeping
• Introduction to Bridge equipment and their use
• Effective steering and understanding of helm orders Emergencies and reporting procedures
• Use of emergency equipment
• Introduction to and the safe use of cargo gear
• Safe and proper use of deck machinery
• Introduction to the code of safe working practices
• including importance of wearing PPE, safety of working aloft and overside, dangers of electricity, safety of high voltage appliances Carry out a bridge watch
• Carry out a cargo watch
• Carry out a security watch
