Ship Handling And Manoeuvring ( Management Level)

The aim of this course is to meet the simulator training requirements of mandatory minimum standards of competence for seafarers outlined in Regulation Reg. II/2, Sec. A-II/2 Table A-II/2 and Reg. II/3, Sec. A-II/3 Table A-II/3 in STCW 1978 as amended, with regard to the competencies “Manoeuvre and handle a ship in all conditions, plan a voyage and conduct navigation; Determine position and the accuracy of resultant position fix by any means; Coordinate search and rescue operations; Establish watchkeeping arrangements and procedures; Maintain safe navigation through the use of information from navigation equipment and systems to assist command decision making”.

Intake Limitations

Maximum 12 students per course.

Academic Faculty

Our training will be delivered by properly qualified lecturers and instructors who have the qualifications as specified in MSN 03/2022 issued by the Director General of Merchant Shipping, Merchant Shipping Secretariat, Sri Lanka.

Entry Requirements

The candidate shall have 12 months of sea time as navigation watchkeeping officer; and
The candidate shall have followed an approved training course on Radar Simulator with the certificate as evidence; and
The candidate shall have followed an approved training course on Navigational watchkeeping simulator course with the certificate as evidence; or
A letter of authorization issued to the candidate from merchant shipping secretariat of Sri Lanka to participate in the course.
