Southern Maritime Training Institute (SMTI) successfully held the Inauguration Ceremony of Navigation Officer Cadet Batch 06 on Thursday, 3 September 2026, at its Colombo campus.
The ceremony commenced with the registration of cadets and guests, followed by the arrival of distinguished guests and representatives of the SMTI management.
The official programme featured a welcome address by the Principal of Southern Maritime Training Institute, followed by an address from the Director of SMTI. The speakers warmly welcomed the new cadets and highlighted the importance of discipline, professional development, dedication and commitment throughout their maritime training journey.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of Certificates of Selection to the members of Navigation Officer Cadet Batch 06. The certificates marked the beginning of an important new chapter in the cadets’ journey towards becoming competent and responsible maritime professionals.
